Wanderers"Planet": from the Greek word πλανήτης, meaning "wanderer"

Another day, another airport;
Motion-blurred hours, revolving
Carousels; bags that seem
To wander like planets,
Straying without a fixed sun.

Lights - too many, too bright -
People searching for familiar faces,
Searching the flickering boards,
As if waiting for a sign from above
To show them the way back home.

But a suitcase is also a home,
And a beating pulse can be
As good a compass as any
When the guiding stars are obscured,
The skies clouded with wanderlust.

Thus we carry them with us:
Our suitcases and our hearts;
A
Weightless in the AirBirds with clipped wings cannot fly --
Or so you've always heard them say;
No one mentioned anything
About painted paper wings.

Like a newborn bird, you yearn
For sunkissed serenades
And you long for the spirited rush
Of wind against your skin.

Yet you're tangled up here in these wires,
Dancing a tuneless arabesque,
Tracing ornamental orbitals,
A helpless satellite.

But take to flight, origami kite,
For you're weighed down only by words:
Heavy like pebbles on the tongue,
Yet weightless in the air.

Untie this noose from your brittle frame,
For paper wings are still wings --
And maybe one day you will finally learn
To soar wi
Two Minutes to SevenTwo minutes to seven, seeing sparks,
Miniature stars drowned out by the sun;
Drawing shadows across darkened eyes
Because she can't bear to look at the light;
It wasn't supposed to hurt, she says,
(She doesn't always mean what she says) -

How can you wield this flint and steel
And how can you strike alight this spark
With hands that are bound so tightly together,
Cut and scarred and bleeding, bleeding
Like perverse roses blossoming
On this barren bed of winter snow?

So take this corkscrew to her heart
And twist it in, hard, just as she says,
And she won't feel a thing; no, not a thing -
Only the white noise of nicotine
